About eComID

eComID is building the Shopping Passport for modern commerce - a shopper context layer that enables brands to understand and personalize every shopper from their very first visit. By combining AI-powered sizing, conversational search and intelligent product discovery, we’re making online shopping smarter, more personal and less wasteful.

Launched in Stockholm in 2024, eComID is already operating at scale, reaching more than 20 million shoppers every month. We recently raised a $17.4 million seed round - the largest in European fashion-tech history and the second-largest globally.

We’re backed by H&M Group, Stadium, leading international VCs and some of Europe’s most successful industry leaders and technology founders, including Helena Helmersson, Sebastian Knutsson, Maria Raga and Alan Mamedi.

Now, we’re bringing together exceptional people with warm hearts to build a world-class fashion-tech company from Stockholm. If you want to solve meaningful problems, move fast and help shape how the world shops, this is the place to do it.

What you will work on

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to help build and evolve the systems that our products and engineering teams depend on every day.

You will work across cloud infrastructure, deployment, observability, reliability, networking, security, and developer tooling. The goal is simple: make it easy for our engineers to ship reliable systems quickly, and make sure those systems continue to perform as EcomID scales.

This is a hands-on role with broad ownership. You will work closely with backend, data, AI, and product engineers, helping shape both our infrastructure and the way we build and operate software.

You will help design, build, and operate the infrastructure behind EcomID, including:

  • Designing and evolving our cloud infrastructure on GCP

  • Building reliable deployment and CI/CD systems

  • Improving observability across services, infrastructure, and production workloads

  • Building tooling that makes engineers faster and reduces operational overhead

  • Improving reliability, scalability, and resilience across our systems

  • Managing networking, service communication, secrets, and environment configuration

  • Designing infrastructure for production services, background workloads, and distributed systems

  • Improving incident detection, debugging, and operational response

  • Managing infrastructure as code and automated environment provisioning

  • Improving resource usage and infrastructure cost efficiency

  • Supporting high-throughput and low-latency production workloads

  • Improving local development and production parity

  • Designing sensible approaches to redundancy, backups, recovery, and failure handling

  • Working closely with engineering teams to remove infrastructure bottlenecks

  • Helping define infrastructure standards and engineering practices as the company grows

You will have significant influence over how our platform evolves and how engineering teams interact with it.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with strong infrastructure and software engineering fundamentals who has experience operating production systems at scale.

You should have experience with several of the following:

  • Designing and operating cloud infrastructure

  • GCP or another major cloud provider

  • Infrastructure as code

  • CI/CD and automated deployment systems

  • Containers and workload orchestration

  • Networking, DNS, load balancing, service communication, and security boundaries

  • Observability, metrics, logs, tracing, and alerting

  • Production reliability and incident response

  • Linux and production systems debugging

  • Python, Go, or another general-purpose programming language

  • Databases, caches, queues, and distributed systems

  • Managing production environments across multiple services

  • Capacity planning and infrastructure cost optimisation

  • Security fundamentals around IAM, secrets, access control, and service identities

  • Building internal tooling or developer platforms

Experience supporting data-intensive or machine learning systems is a plus, but not required.

We care more about strong engineering judgement and experience operating real production systems than whether you have used our exact stack before.

Our current tech stack

Today our core stack includes:

Languages: Python, Go, TypeScript

Services/libraries: GCP, BigQuery, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Redis, Apache Beam, Kubeflow, Feast, PyTorch, Typesense, Milvus, ConnectRPC

Our infrastructure supports a mix of backend services, data workloads, ML systems, batch processing, and real-time inference.

We are not attached to technologies for their own sake and are open to introducing better tools where they make sense.

What we value

We are looking for someone who:

  • Takes ownership of the systems they build and operate

  • Cares deeply about reliability and production quality

  • Thinks carefully about failure modes before they happen

  • Enjoys making other engineers more productive

  • Can reason about trade-offs between reliability, complexity, performance, and cost

  • Will question existing architecture and propose better approaches

  • Prefers simple, robust systems over unnecessary complexity

  • Automates repetitive operational work

  • Is comfortable debugging problems across applications, networks, infrastructure, and databases

  • Builds abstractions that make things easier without making systems impossible to understand

  • Treats observability as part of the system, not something added afterwards

  • Can balance moving quickly with building systems that will hold up over time

  • Is proactive about removing bottlenecks and operational pain

  • Enjoys working closely with engineers across different disciplines

What we offer

  • A best-in-class team with warm hearts and no ego. We care deeply about the quality of our work, while staying kind, humble, and easy to work with. The goal is always to build the best product possible, not to win internal arguments.

  • Real ownership. You will have meaningful influence over our infrastructure, architecture, tooling, and engineering practices.

  • A platform used by the whole engineering team. Improvements you make will directly affect how quickly and reliably backend, data, and AI engineers can ship.

  • Broad technical problems. You will work across cloud infrastructure, networking, databases, distributed systems, observability, deployment, and security.

  • Close collaboration with product engineering. Infrastructure is not isolated from the rest of the company. You will work directly with the teams building and operating our products.

  • Freedom to choose the right tools. We have a strong existing stack, but no attachment to technology for its own sake. If there is a better way to solve a problem, we want to hear it.

  • High standards without unnecessary process. We care about reliability, thoughtful engineering, and maintainable systems while keeping teams small, communication direct, and decision-making fast.

  • The chance to shape the next stage of the company. We are still early enough that the infrastructure decisions and engineering practices you establish now will have a lasting impact on how EcomID scales.
