Why join Genki Robotics?

Physical AI has finally become good enough to leave the lab, and that makes Tokyo's Genki Robotics worth watching. If its humanoids become general-purpose workers on factory floors and in warehouses, the company could reshape how physical labor gets done. The $50M raised so far, backed by Andreessen Horowitz and AMD, has eight roles open, all posted in the last 30 days, seven in engineering.

JustBacked's take, based on Genki Robotics's own site and its funding and hiring data.

About Genki Robotics

Genki Robotics was founded by a team of pioneers in humanoid robotics committed to practical applications of physical AI. With decades of collective expertise, we are developing advanced robotic systems that combine intelligence, dexterity, and resilience to address critical challenges in public safety, urban maintenance, and other mission-driven environments. Our vision is to accelerate the integration of intelligent humanoids into society, augmenting human capability and shaping the future of work and service.

We’re backed by a16z, AMD, DCM, Incubate Fund, and X&KSK.

About the Role

We're looking for a Technical Program Manager to bring order to the complexity of building humanoid robots. You'll own the connective tissue between our vendors, our engineering teams, and our roadmap, turning shifting priorities and supplier realities into a plan the whole company can execute against. This is a hands-on role for someone who's comfortable with ambiguity, moves fast, and can speak credibly with both a supply chain partner and a robotics engineer.

What You'll Do

  • Own end-to-end program timelines across hardware and software workstreams, translating vendor schedules and supplier constraints into realistic internal roadmaps.

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with external vendors and manufacturing partners, surfacing risks (delays, spec changes, quality issues) before they hit the critical path.

  • Coordinate program dependencies and schedules across US and Japan workstreams, tracking cross-site handoffs and surfacing blockers to engineering leads.

  • Run a regular cadence of program reviews with engineering leads (mechanical, electrical, firmware, software) to track progress and resolve cross-team dependencies.

  • Convert ambiguous, evolving product goals into concrete milestones and measurable objectives engineering can execute against.

  • Drive prioritization and resource tradeoffs across a portfolio of concurrent programs with limited engineering bandwidth.

  • Build trusted relationships across engineering, ops, leadership, and external partners to influence roadmap decisions.

  • Build just enough process (not more) to keep programs on track without slowing teams down; continuously improve it as we scale.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Track record managing complex hardware and software programs end to end, in organizations where you built the process rather than inherited it.

  • Experience managing external vendor/supplier relationships: sourcing, timelines, quality, change orders.

  • Proven ability to work across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams and translate between their priorities.

  • Familiarity with the hardware development lifecycle (EVT/DVT/PVT) and how it drives software/firmware integration timelines.

  • Strong communication skills, including presenting program status and risk to executive stakeholders.

  • Experience with distributed, multi-site engineering teams, including working with colleagues for whom English is a second language.

  • Comfort navigating ambiguity in an early-stage environment where specs shift as the product evolves.

Bonus Points

  • Experience in robotics, especially humanoid or legged systems: actuators, sensors (IMUs, force/torque, vision), manipulation, or locomotion.

  • Experience coordinating with contract manufacturers or component suppliers (actuators, power systems, custom PCBs) on lead times and quality.

  • Awareness of safety and compliance considerations for robots operating near humans.
